Stoplight Entertainment

Whhhhhhhheeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. That was me exhaling. I am the front desk secretary at a charter high school in Springville and our first day of school is tomorrow so we have been working hard to prepare. We got a new school building that we couldn't move in to until Wednesday of last week, and then we had a back to school night at the building the next day.

Yesterday I was stopped at a stop light and was surprised to enjoy some high quality entertainment. There was a woman (I think) holding a sign for Little Ceasar's pizza dancing around on the side walk. I have only seen cartoons dancing the way this woman could. She would shoot her legs out to the side really fast one after the other and then she shot them out a little higher. She was doing grapevine's and step-together-steps to the left and right. All of a sudden she shot her left leg back behind her and did this weird bend with it like a snake. All of her movements were short and fast and quite hilarious. The funny thing about this is she was just dancing to her own beat--there were NO headphones in her ears and no stereo system playing music. How did she DO that?

I spent some time in California with my oldest bro and his family. We did a little sword fighting and I did some rear-end-kicking. Mom caught our sweet action on camera which is what you enjoyed at the beginning of this post.

We loved having you come! I hope you had a good quick flight back and especially hope you had a great time with "A". Does he read your blog? Should I use code names?

The have to laugh that you're not sure if that dancing person was a woman or not. Good luck with school...and with the aforementioned boy that Val alluded to in her comment.

Those jumping pictures are awesome! We have a little Ceasars sign holder by us that Kendall calls the "foot guy". He stands there with the top half of his body totally still and his feet just go and go. We love it when we pass by on his shift. What a horrible job, though. Your job, however, sounds so fun to me. Challenging and busy and fulfilling. Wouldn't you so much rather be super busy at a job like that, than not busy but doing something like dancing on the sidewalks. Sure, it's easier and more fun sometimes, but you have nothing challenging you into growth. I loved my days at Pediatric Care. Busy and stressful soemtimes, lots of issues with parents and insurance, lots of time on the phone or filing or copying, etc. But so fulfilling at the end of a day when you realize you are a key component in making that business run smoothly and that you're learning to be more patient, efficient, tolerant, friendly, etc. If you can see all the challenges you face in your job as an opportunity for growth and learning, you're going to be ready for principal in no time.:)

Dear Abby,

I love you and I simply must tell you that no Little Caesars dancing woman can beat your balloon head dancing. You are a grade A form of entertainment!

Abby,

Remind me to never tell your family about any of my secret crushes . . . because they wouldn't stay secret for long.

I AM PECULIAR (this is a permanent post. If you have already read it, scroll down to see my latest)

Those of you who read my blog could probably make a list of all the reasons that you think I am a bit peculiar. No worries, I would be the first to shout an amen to everything you could think of. I know I’m peculiar; but let me tell you the number one thing on my list that I think makes me a peculiar person.

I know where I come from, why I am here and where I am going. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Some of you will know me as a “Mormon” although that is just a nickname. The word ‘Saint’ just means ‘member’ in this context. I believe in God the Eternal Father, that I am a daughter of God, and that He loves me and wants me to be happy. I believe in my Savior Jesus Christ who lived a perfect life, atoned for my sins, died and was resurrected all that I might enjoy the blessing of being forgiven of my sins, and having my body and spirit reunited after death. I know that just as God called prophets in the Old and New Testament times that He has in fact called a prophet to lead and guide us today. I believe that families can live together for eternity; death does not have to be the end of our relationships with the ones we love. Some of you may wonder how on earth I can know these things. As I learn more and more from the Bible and other scriptures and actually live what I learn I see the promises the Lord has made being fulfilled in my life, and I feel the Holy Spirit bear witness that these things are true.

I know, I’m peculiar, but thankfully there are over 13 million other peculiar members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and with each year that number grows. I feel so much joy and happiness in my life because of this knowledge. If you want to know more depth about anything I have said that makes me peculiar, visit www.mormon.org. This website explains in detail much of what I have just professed to believe and more.
